Software as New Media System
On Thursday the 29th, we played with the idea of software as sandbox. Since you use software all the time, consider some experiment and play of your own.
In essay form, analyze a piece of software as a new media system. To accomplish this, consider what the software is meant to do and how it accomplishes its purpose. Consider how the software makes certain creative techniques possible, such as editing, filtering, customization, and the sharing of information. In addition, consider how the software’s functions relate to traditional systems. Be thorough, specific, and organized. Submit your work in a word-processed document using 12 point, Times New Roman font. How much detail are you looking for, you ask? The essay should meet a minimum of 700 words. Work as many of the new media principles and concepts in as you evaluate as appropriate.
