[NMP09] Interactive Fiction 01

My I7 tutorial page is located here. You can find basic information plus more sophisticated tricks as well beyond the documentation included with the software.

Here is the code I was demo’ing in class:

“Test Demo 080323″ by John Timmons

The Lobby is a room. “The lobby is very quiet for this time of day. There is a large wooden bench against the wall. A ticket booth is to the east of here and a passage south leads to the office.”

A hat is in the lobby. It is edible and wearable.

A flash light is in the lobby. It is lit.

A wooden bench is scenery in the Lobby. The description is “This wooden bench has seen better days.”

The desk is a supporter in the lobby.

The bed is an enterable supporter in the lobby.

The cookie jar is a container on the desk. It is closed, locked, lockable, openable, and transparent. The paper towel unlocks the cookie jar.

A paper towel is carried by the player.

A fig newton is in the cookie jar. It is edible.

The Ticket Booth is east of the Lobby. “No one appears to be working here. The Lobby is west from here.”

The Office is south of the Lobby. “A small office, probably for some middle management type. There is a closet east of here and the Lobby is north.”  It is dark.

The VW Jetta is a vehicle in the Office.

The Closet is east of the Office. “A small empty closet. The office is to the west.”

The Upstairs is up from the Lobby. “On the second floor there is absolutely nothing to see. Stairs lead down to the Lobby.”

Next week we’ll wrap up objects and begin discussing time, actions, rules, and ending the game.
